Grass Spikes 12mm

12mm Grass Spikes are designed for use in all track & field events conducted on grass tracks. They are the longest spike allowed in Little Athletics.

Grass Spikes are longer versions of the Pyramid Spike, designed for use on grass tracks. The resemble the original track spike, which were nails driven through the soles of shoes in the late 1800s, but are sleeker in design.

The pointy, conical design of the spikes mean that they have a sharp tip, which will penetrate the track surface to provide traction. Their longer length – 12mm as opposed to 6mm or 7mm spikes used on synthetic surfaces – penetrates the softer grass surface more deeply, to provide better grip. They are useful for all athletics events on grass tracks, as well as for cross country races on soft or muddy ground.

Overtime, the tip of the spikes will wear down from usage, blunting the spike. However, when used only on grass (and avoiding any hard surfaces, rocks etc) they will last longer than Pyramid Spikes or Christmas Tree Spikes do when they used on harder synthetic tracks. Further, our spikes are made from quenched and tempered steel, which maximises their strength and durability. When taken care of, the spikes will last a long time before needing replacement.

Our spikes are easily replaceable when the time comes, using a standard spikes key. Our replacement spikes are compatible with all major spike shoe brands, including Nike, Adidas, Asics, Puma and New Balance.

We stock 12mm Grass Spikes, which is the maximum spike length allowable for use in Little Athletics. For powerful adult sprinters, we also have a 15mm version available.
